You Are Good Enough
In the seven years since my journey began, one thing that I am constantly inspired by is how resilient, creative, courageous, and absolutely perfect my transgender and queer siblings are. Four years ago, I began speaking and advocating on behalf of the transgender community in my hometown of Alabama. My work quickly expanded throughout the center of the United States. In 2014, I made a public promise. That promise was that no matter what happens, as long as I have breath I will never stop speaking out against the oppression of my people. One thing that really tires me is the constant message sent to transgender and queer folk that says that we are not good enough if we don't "pass" or "look woman enough" or look "man enough." These message make the gender dysphoria, depression, and suicidality of so many transgender and queer people worse because their underlying meaning is that there is something wrong with us and we are not good enough to exist in our society. I reject this narrative because I know that it is absolutely untrue. I've grown weary of watching my siblings die from transphobic violence— both physical and emotional. For this reason, I started this foundation in 2016 in order to promote the global health and wellbeing of transgender and queer individuals. In helping you become the best version of the person you've always been, our goal isn't to make you "good enough." It is to help you find the good enough that already exists inside of you. Whether you are at the beginning of your journey or are well into it, my entire team and I are here to help you navigate your journey. You are perfect, you are good enough, and you are loved.
